Not had chance to read the whole issue dedicated to Protest as yet but, I have kicked off with the 30min interview with Roy ‘Power’ Noel and I found it absolutely riveting! Just so much local black history being shared from an elder who was here in Huddersfield as part of that infamous Windrush Pioneer Generation. Special ‘Big Up’ to Dr Milton Brown who so skillfully asked probing questions that enabled such rich narrative to be shared. I think those of us who see ourselves as Local Black Community Activists should revisit and unpack what Roy has said and strategise wisely on how to move forward and build a better reality for ourselves here in Huddersfield/Kirklees. I pray the potential acquisition of the Hudawi Cultural Centre under Community Asset Transfer will be the first major step in that process!
